As hospitalizations from COVID-19 continue to soar, caregivers need information on caring for those with COVID-19 at home after they are discharged from a hospital. The North Carolina Health Care Association (NCHA) and AARP North Carolina have written a new booklet entitled Post COVID-19 Care, and it is available in both English and Spanish.
This booklet will help patients who have had a highly contagious virus, and their anxious caregivers, ask the right questions before the patient is taken home. Questions like: Is isolation needed? How do we administer the medications prescribed before contracting COVID-19? What should we expect the patient to need help with? Will they be tested again to confirm the virus is gone? Can they be around pets?
The new booklet provides information about symptoms and testing sites, and is designed with spaces to write down important information such as medication lists, and to take notes when you talk to medical providers. It also helps people identify symptoms and provides important contact numbers including the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, the Centers for Disease Control, and 2-1-1.
Please share this resource with your co-workers, family, and friends! It will only help if people know about it!
