Friday Facts Interview with Andrea Bozoki, MD & Sutton Salinger, MPH, CHES

Dr. Bozoki is the Division Chief & Professor of Memory and Cognitive Disorders at UNC Neurology, as well as the Outreach and Engagement Core Leader of the Duke-UNC Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. Ms. Salinger is the Community Engagement & Social Clinical Research Specialist in the UNC Neurology Clinical Trials Unit.

They share information about brain health and dementia care, and the importance of continuing research into both of these areas if we hope to keep making progress toward a world without dementia. They also share information about the the NC Registry for Brain Health, which is both a newsletter about recent advances and local events around brain health, and also a source of occasional offers to participate in brain health-related research.

Additionally, they discuss the Duke-UNC joint Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, which is a new joint venture between our 2 great local universities, supported by the NIH, whose mission is the advancement of research and dissemination of new knowledge around the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. Our particular focus with both of these projects is to increase the presence of traditionally under-represented groups in research, so that our study population reflects the population characteristics of North Carolina as a whole.
