Friday Facts Interview with Heather Boykin


Heather Boykin is a palliative care nurse practitioner, holding a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has worked many years in academic medicine providing care to hospitalized patients with palliative care needs. Currently she serves as the director for community based palliative care at a prominent, non-for-profit organization in southeastern North Carolina; Lower Cape Fear LifeCare. She remains a practicing clinician as well, caring for people living with cancer, heart failure, kidney disease, dementia and other serious illnesses. Heather is passionately dedicated to helping people living with serious illness, and their families, to navigate their healthcare journey in a way that aligns with their goals for quality of life, dignity, peace and respect.
