In this session, presenters discussed the structure of the North Carolina General Assembly, its health committees, and its role in health policy development. The session also focused on serious illness and end-of-life care as well as advance care planning.
Advance care planning forms are important, but they should be used as a guiding principle for discussions about an individual’s wishes. Both serious illness care and ACP efforts help ensure individuals get the level of care they want, during and at the end of life. COVID-19 has further exposed the gaps and disparities in this type of care and planning.
